Marriage Encounter

Credits

Fridays Fave 5

Welcome to Friday's Fave Five. The perfect place to reflect back over your week and find your five favorite moments or things. If you're joining us for the first time we welcome you. If you need the details you can go here first if you'd like.

So here we go:

1. Marriage Encounter: For the longest time I have been too tired for any quality time to spend with my husband. The kids just exhaust me. Well, my husband bought me a new cell phone (blackberry curve) where I can do text messages. My husband went back to work so I'm home to deal with the kids. We've been texing little love notes during the day which has made us each excited to see each other. It's like we are dating all over again. Helps to have a bottle of wine too.

2. Financial: Our credit cards are all closed now after our debt consolidation. We finally received some checks back from over payments from some of them too. Hopefully this will releave some stress in the next couple of months and we can start saving again once we pay off our kids what we borrowed from them.

3. Taxes: So far our personal taxes came in the mail from our accountant. We overpaid on our estimated taxes! No, we won't be getting money back, however, they will apply it to our estimated taxes for 2009. At least we won't have to dish out a lot like we did last year. I was really worried about that as we just do not have the money to do so. Unforutnately, we did not get our business taxes back so I still can't relax until that comes back.

4. Kids: I've been trying to tell them more that I love them and have been getting more kisses and hugs. It has helped my attitude since I have been very resentful that I am doing everything all the time. They are starting to help out with chores which really helps too.

5. Knitting. I started a new project. Nope didn't finish the scarf or the baby blanket. The scarf is 3/4 way done. The baby blanket is 1/2 way done. I am making skirts for the girls. I just started it so don't know how long it will take me. Will post photos when I get it done.

So what where your favorite things from the week?

Blog Award

I've been feeling a bit down lately and trying to change my attitude about my life and it was a bit of a surprise to receive this award from my friend Lori today, thank you. You can visit her blog here.

Lots of changes are happening in my life hopefully for the better but, of course, some changes I accept willingly and some I am not accepting.

Accepting:
Finances: We have been struggling living paycheck to paycheck. We have just finished a refinance debt consolidation so we hope that in the future it will help stop some of our unnecessary stress. This past month has been a bit of a whirlwind with credit cards asking for more money even after we paid them off. Funds that we just did not have. We hope that once we get all settled that we will be able to start saving again.

Marriage: I'm trying to reconnect with my husband. Since the kids have been born we have been a bit distant from each other. I am determined to get our love life back on track. We really need to get a baby sitter too so we can go out and reconnect again. Hopefully once we have extra money we can do that again.

My House: I really need to get my house in order. I decided to join flylady again. This is only my 2nd week. I have been trying to do baby steps in cleaning and getting my house decluttered. My main goal is to clean out my craft room and make room for the kids to have a workspace and we can enjoy my craft room more.

Not Accepting:
MOMs Club. I have been a member for over 2 years. It literally has saved my life and my kids lives. I have made tons of new friends and have done so much with the club. I even run their newsletter and am currently on the board. However, since our club has grown to over 70 members the Corporate headquarters is forcing us to split our club in half. What does that mean? Well, in the next month or so I will have to choose which club I want to belong to. How can you choose which friends to hang out with? Do I stay in my own area and make new friends or do I cross the line and join the in-crowd? It's been a major struggle for me for the past couple of nights I have not been sleeping.

Invisible Mother......

It all began to make sense, the blank stares, the lack of response, the way one of the kids will walk into the room while I'm on the phone (or even on the toilet) and ask to be taken somewhere.
Inside I'm thinking, 'Can't you see I'm busy?'
Obviously, not.
No one can see if I'm on the phone, or cooking, or sweeping the floor, or even standing on my head in the corner, because no one can see me at all.
I'm invisible.
The invisible Mom.
Some days I am only a pair of hands, nothing more: Can you fix this? Can you tie this? Can you open this?
Some days I'm not a pair of hands; I'm not even a human being. I'm a clock to ask, 'What time is it?' I'm a satellite guide to answer, 'What number is the Disney Channel?'
I'm a taxi to order, 'Right around 5:30, please.'
I was certain that these were the hands that once held books and the eyes that studied history and the mind that graduated sum a cum laude - but now they had disappeared into the peanut butter, never to be seen again. She's going; she's going; she is gone!

All About Me - H = Handbag

Credits

March 09 - Hybrid Challenge

Deco Pages is having a Hybrid Challenge. It's called a Coffee Filter Album. You can find directions here. I made this album for my husband for his birthday. The cover was made using Stampin' Up papers and embellishments and I printed out a butterfly and flower from Colors of Day by Benilda Scraps. The butterfly is only glued in the center so the wings are raised up. The entire cover was modge podged to give it a glossy look.

The inside pages were made by decorating coffee filters. Each one of my children had their own page to decorate the way they wanted. Some used photos and some just used stickers. They also made the tags that are sticking out of the above picture.

Victoria's page. She wanted to tell her daddy how much she loved him so she picked out all my heart and lip stickers from the time I used to collect paper supplies.

Justin had fun cutting out his photo and gluing it onto his page. This was an old photo from when he was age 1 or 2.

Naomi also chose a photo from when she was 1 of herself. She also added some animal stickers.

Oh, did I mention that I dusted off my bind it all and actually used it for this project? Now, after lugging all my supplies down to the kitchen I think I need to get my office cleared up so they could just go in my room to do an art project and then I won't have to do all the carrying up and down the stairs.
